Editing

Once we had filmed what we thought was every shot we needed for our film opening we started off working on iMovie on the computers at school.

We got a lot of work done up until everything was in the right order and cut at the right places and we realised this program did not have sufficient filters and editing effects for the sci-fi effects we wanted. Therefore we bought Final Cut Pro on Charlie's Macbook and started working off of there. At this point we could manually alter filters and apply affects which made the editing process much better.

This allowed us to get the effect we wanted and made it easier to edit clearly and more precisely.

Because our film is Sci-Fi, we have had to put an immense amount of time into editing as this is what makes the shots and make up realistic. This has included very fast jump cuts and unnatural filters to really give it an unnatural feel. We chose edit the clips manually, as if creating our own filters with dimmed saturation and a blueish hue to make the scenes colder and darker to add to the atmosphere.

We decided to put the names in order of descending importance in the film, therefore starting with the lead character. However, the way it turned out meant that the characters were also in order of appearance of lead characters. We decided to only credit the 3 main characters and the director, producer, editor and sound team.
We took inspiration from the openings from Alien and Blade Runner.
