Sound

It has always been extremely clear that sound and music is an extremely large aspect of film and it really creates the whole atmosphere of the film.
For the music soundtrack, my friends Eloise and Abi offered to compose a score as they are music students. They used the program 'Sibelius7'. I gave them an updated version of our piece every couple of weeks and observed as they composed the piece to go as background music. Before they started, I showed them our inspiration which included the scores from films such as Alien which is a classic, iconic Sci-Fi film. Therefore, we planned to follow the key classical style with great climaxes using lots of strings and orchestral instruments instead of more modern instruments such as keyboard sounds because while researching we discovered this quote from roundhouse.cc 'Alien features a menacingly beautiful orchestral score with an eclectic use of ambient noise.' Therefore, along with this classical score, we also plan to use diegetic and ambient noise to create a real and gritty environment.

 New beginning sound:
We plan for our film opening to begin with a black screen and non-diegetic voices reading news reports seemingly from a zombie apocalypse catastrophe. In order to give the impression that this was a widespread issue, we recorded some fake reports ourselves in English accents which were specific to our storyline - alluding to the lizard-style zombies that feature in the film opening, and we took extracts from free sound websites that were American fake reports.
